My career has seen me working in a variety of human resource, business management and accounting roles in big business, as well as marketing, management and taxation roles in small and medium size businesses. I have also worked in a wide range of industries that includes retail, primary production, education,  distribution, business and personal services, and manufacturing.

Whilst taking time off to raise my children, I took the opportunity to obtain formal qualifications; updating my knowledge and practical skills, and catching the research bug.  My studies and research have focused on small business growth and have proven to be of great value when assisting small business owner's to translate big business theory and practices, proven to generate profit and growth, into the small business, and at an affordable cost. I believe more research is needed to better understanding the small business and improving their survival rate. Small businesses represent 97% of our business in Australia and generate just under 50% of employment yet most research (and funding) is focused on big business.

Currently I'm researching your views on the GST and how it affects on growth, in particular I'm looking  at the effect the GST has on small business growth the owner's (your) ability to invest in your business growth:

  • Does the GST affect the amount of time you have to invest in your business; how?
  • Does the GST affect the amount of money you have available to invest in your business; why
  • Does the GST affect you hiring decisions; how?
  • Does the $75,000 threshold affect your business income targets; in what ways?
